Recommended Duration: 1 day (min. 6hrs continuous training including assessment)
Delivery: Hands-on training and/or blended learning (where applicable) followed by a practical assessment specific to forestry work
Award: International Certificate of Competence & 24/7 web-based digital epassport
Validity: 2 years
Syllabus
- Know the role of a first-aider & risks to forestry workers
- Know the importance of preventing cross-infection
- Know the requirements & how to record incidents & actions
Be able to use available equipment - Be able to assess the situation & circumstances in order to act safely, promptly & effectively in an emergency (Primary, secondary survey, FAST, Vital Signs, Handover)
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
- Be able to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Know the requirements for the use of an automated external defibrillator (ADD)
- Know how to administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Be able administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Know how to administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Know how to provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns, wounds and scalds, small splinters)
- Know how to administer first aid to deal with a casualty suffering from electrical injuries or the effects of poison

1-8 students per 1 instructor
